Sinus Infections

There are many reasons why people get sinus infections. Those who have recently had a cold, have allergies, polyps which causes nasal obstruction, a deviated septum, swollen adenoids, or narrowed drainage ducts are at risk for sinus infections.

Sinus infections are caused by inflammation of the tissue that lines the sinuses. Typically your sinuses are filled with air, but when they are blocked they can be filled with fluids or germs (like bacteria or viruses) and can cause an infection.

Particularly if the infection goes on untreated, it can last from 4 to 8 weeks.

Some of the typical symptoms include:

  • Facial pain/pressure
  • Nasal stuffiness
  • Nasal discharge
  • Loss of smell
  • Cough/congestion
  • Fever
  • Bad breath
  • Fatigue
  • Dental pain
